Eleanor and Sophie share touching, humorous stories of imposter syndrome, the fear and apathy of mid-life, the emotional realities of the perimenopause, the impact of grief, guilt, reincarnation and the ‘why’ of life.
About Grip of Life
A two-hander, inspired by the life of Eleanor Daniels, about two Welsh women from different times, who cross paths at an audition and slip into a world barely removed from the present. They bicker and bond bilingually, sharing tales of their lives and become characters in each other’s stories.
Grandramodi is a Welsh Language Writing competition; a collaboration between Cymdeithas Drama Gymraeg Abertawe & Grand Ambition. The competition is open at all and aimed at fostering and promoting Welsh-language writing.

After a successful research and development process funded by Arts Council Wales and supported by The Riverfront theatre, I am hoping to produce and tour a full production of my play ‘Grip of Life’ inspired by the life of Welsh actress Eleanor Daniels.

Annual Monmouth pantomime produced by Spontaneous Productions at the Savoy Theatre, Monmouth.
I was delighted to be invited into the company as an assistant director for this wonderful production. The whole company embraced my input and trusted me to run things when the director was not available. Plus of course, I also got to wave my magic wand for a few shows!
A Monologue
‘Beige Chocolate’ is a working title for a monologue I wrote based on coercive control. I am planning for it to be part of a wider project on that theme.
Currently (and previously performed) as a comedy short, two-hander.
In development to become part of a larger theatre production in 2024 and hoping to be produced as an audio drama in 2024.
Inspired by The Shire Hall in Monmouth, this started out as a ghost story but ended up a comedy…
Is it really our oldest friends who know us best? Or is it with them that we feel most trapped? Trapped in our pasts along with all of the teenage behaviours that continue to define us. Two old friends get actually trapped in spooky surroundings on a pleasant day trip, which leads to a warm and comedic exploration of their friendship and the discovery that after 30 years, people can still surprise you.
A modern spin on a traditional Mummers’ play – laughter, thrills and rhyming couplets – bespokely written around local landmarks and legends.
After returning to Cymru and landing in Monmouth, eager to continue writing, directing and collaborating I gathered a small band of performers and wrote, directed and produced a Mummers’ Play specifically for the area. Monmouth’s First Ever Mummers’ Play (probably) was enjoyed by locals in pubs and outdoor venues in December 2022 and we were immediately invited to perform again.
One act plays developed and written for youth theatre performances.
While in Boston I was commissioned to write scripts for the Revels Theatre Company Youth and Education programmes. In line with the Revels template, these were adaptations of folk tales and legends using song, poetry, dialogue and narration, written for children and young people to perform.

While working away as a theatre actor in Boston a few years ago I realised that my favourite part of that process is the rehearsals. I love to create, play and collaborate and after a lifetime of performing (while I still love it) I was suddenly tempted to direct. After being given an Assistant Director opportunity on the wonderful Christmas Revels show I had performed in many times, I went on to direct my own production of ‘No Exit’. The run was sadly cut short like so many other productions, due to covid, but not before we enjoyed four sold out shows
